The ZJ1 was announced in 2007 in an edition of 50 fountain pens and rollerballs. The intention was to make 25 pens in sterling silver, 15 in vermeil and 10 in 18k gold. I don’t know how many were actually made as the financial crisis struck in 2008.
The collection was named the Zoe Collection and intended to be a series but the ZJ1 was the only edition to go into production. The pens were handcrafted in France by Murelli using an engraving machine restored from their museum. The guilloche pattern is extremely complex, and is named Mozaique. Because the engraving was done by hand every pen is slightly different and unique. The engraving is deep and the sterling pen weighs 80g. The clip was hand-made by Paul Rossi. One of the gold pens is listed on eBay for offers on $68,000.
This pen is in sterling silver and is number 07/25. I bought it from Classic Pens in 2008.
The cap band has the imprint “CLASSIC MOZAIQUE ZJ1” with the Classic Pens logo and the edition number.
It has a large 18k two-tone German nib with an ebonite feed. The nib was a medium point which Classic Pens had customized by John Mottishaw for me to an expressive 0.7mm stub, a lovely writer. It has a converter and can be used with standard ink cartridges.
The pen is 15cm closed and about 17.3cm with the cap posted, about the same size as a Montblanc 149.
The pen was bought new in 2008 and I have inked it six times. It is in pristine condition and comes with the case, card box and sleeve and documents.
Price: £2550 (UKP 2550) including shipping

Further Information from the original Classic Pens website description:
The Zoë Jewelry ZJ Collection are handcrafted pens in precious metals, destined to become future heirlooms. The canvass is the majestic Classic Legend 777 oversize fountain pen and Legend 772 oversize roller/ball pen.
The ZJ1 Mozaique launched in 2007 is the first series of this exclusive collection. The handcrafted fountain pens are mounted with an oversize number 7 nib in 18K solid gold complimented with an ebonite feed for silky smooth and efficient writing. The nibs are offered in a range of gold finishes to compliment the pen body.
The ZJ1 series comprises a total of 50 pens. Of these 25 will be in Sterling Silver, 15 in Vermeil and 10 in 18K Solid Gold. There is a choice of White, Yellow and Rose Gold.
A hand engraver dating from 1927 was reactivated from the Murelli Museum. On this machine, the craftsman Marc Murelli, creates the Mozaique design completely by hand. The engraving process is labor intensive and very lengthy but the result is a magnificent guilloche pattern, unequalled by modern methods. And since the Mozaique pattern is completely handcrafted, every ZJ1 Mozaique in the series of 50 pens is a little different from the rest and unique.
The ZJ1 Mozaiques are handcrafted. Craftsmen in Europe create the cap, barrel and section of the pens. The talented Paul Rossi handcrafts the clips in the USA.
The 18K solid gold nibs are semi-flexible and they are matched with ebonite feeders for silky smooth, efficient and enjoyable writing. The nibs are available in Medium as a standard and will be customized to individual customer specification. The range extends from Extra Fine to Extra Broad, Oblique and Italic.
