A Parker 61 with a difference: made in Argentina about 1970 it has features unique to Argentinian production, including an aerometric filler Forest Green Lucite barrel.
Parker set up production of the Parker 51 in Argentina to avoid high import duties in the South American countries. Production of the 51 started in 1958 and continued until 1973. Manufacture of the Parker 61 started about 1969 and continued until 1976. But the Parker 61 made in Argentina was different to the pens made in the US and the UK. The Argentine plant did not use the capillary filler but continued with the reliable aerometric filler used in the 51. The Argentine 61 had two dots set into the section rather than the arrow, maybe to indicate that this was the Mark II 61 and some different colours including Forest Green, inherited from the 51.
The front of the cap has the imprint “61 PARKER MK II. 61” and on the back “INDUSTRIA ARGENTINA” and the Parker arrow logo.
The pen is in excellent condition with no brassing of the trim and only minor marks on the cap and barrel.
