The Aurora pen company was established in Turin in 1919 and became one of the most successful of Italian pen makers. In 1947 and following the success of the Parker 51 hooded nib design, Aurora launched the model 88, designed by Marcello Nizzoli and their most iconic and successful model. The nib is a little more exposed than the 51 nib, the filling system is an advanced piston using a differential screw thread and the thermoplastic resin barrel has a transparent ink window.
This set has rolled gold caps with a lined pattern and black barrels and is in the original smart white case.
The pen has the Aurora 88 imprint on the section. The nib is an extra-fine writer.
The pen is 13.8cm closed and 14.7 when the cap is posted.
CONDITION: Both pen and pencil are in very good condition with no brassing of the rolled gold caps. The fountain pen has just some fading of the piston knob and pencil cone which must be in black hard rubber. The ink window has excellent transparency. The piston filler has been serviced and the pen fills and writes well. The smart case is in good clean condition.
