An Eversharp Skyline set in blue – black striped bonded celluloid with gold filled trim, complete with case, made in the USA about 1942. The blue stripe is quite striking and I think maybe less common than other colours?
This is a set for someone who wants to use the pen. Eversharp Skyline nibs are lovely writers; this pen has a 14k fine-medium nib, a soft smooth writer with nice flex.
The repeater pencil takes 1.1mm leads and has an eraser under the repeater button.
The pen is 13.2cm closed and 14cm with the cap posted. The matching pencil is 13.4cm.
CONDITION: Good; The set is not cosmetically perfect but the pen writes beautifully, soft, smooth and flexible. The pencil is in good working order with the eraser having seen little use.
The fountain pen has a some brassing and scratches on the lever but otherwise the gold-filled trim is in good condition. The pencil has brassing mainly on the clip band and scratches on the clip visible under magnification. I think there has been some darkening of the blue stripes in the celluloid though I don’t have another blue set to compare. There are marks of use on the celluloid, including a scratch on the back of the cap, easier to feel than to see. The case is in good condition.
