A lovely Conway Stewart 58 in pearlescent green and black hash celluloid with gold filled trim. The barrel imprint on the fountain pen is crisp: “CONWAY STEWART 58. MADE IN ENGLAND”. The nib imprint is: ”DURO CONWAY STEWART 14ct GOLD 58” is a very smooth medium point, Closed the pen is 12.8cm, and 15.7cm with the cap posted.
The 58 range was launched in 1949, with a new streamline design and with a beautiful range of celluloids, freed from the wartime constraints. Production continued through the 1950s and the 58 is the iconic Conway Stewart pen of this period. Which is why the successor Conway Stewart revived the 58 as its first pen in 1998.
CONDITION: very good; the celluloid colour is beautiful, there is no brassing of the gold filled trim, just some typical scratches on the lever. The pen has a new sac and the nib is a very smooth, enjoyable writer.
