Conway Stewart launched the 58 range in 1949, with a streamline design and without the constraints which had hampered production during and after the war. Production continued through the 1950s and the 58 is the iconic Conway Stewart pen of this period.
This set of pen and pencil is in black celluloid with gold filled trim and is complete with the box.
The barrel imprint on the fountain pen is “THE CONWAY STEWART No. 58. MADE IN ENGLAND”. The nib is a medium point, a smooth, quite firm writer. Closed the pen is 13cm, and 16.1cm with the cap posted.
The pencil is 12.8cm and has the crisp imprint on the cap: “THE CONWAY No. 33. CONWAY STEWART LONDON”.
CONDITION: Very good; the pen has a new sac and fills well and writes smoothly. The imprint is a quite crisp, the clip and cap bands have no brassing. The lever has some typical nicks. The pencil is in excellent condition with crisp cap imprint, no brassing even on the cone. The box is in very good condition with only minor marks.
