Pelikan introduced three generations of the model 100 in three years. This pen is the second generation, denoted by having two cap bands (the first generation had none), the first of Pelikan’s own nibs with the round venthole (the first generation had a third-party manufacturer’s nib with a heart-shaped vent-hole) and the cap has the short-lived two vent holes rather than the usual one on each side of the cap.
The celluloid bind is jade green, the cap is black hard rubber. The clip and cap bands are gold filled.
The imprint around the top of the cap is: “Pelikan Patent Pelikan Patent”.
The nib imprint is “Pelikan 14 Karat F”. The fine nib has some nice flex. The feed has the recessed central fin.
Closed the pen is 11.6cm and when the cap is posted, 15.8cm.
Altogether this is an excellent example of this early Pelikan 100, both in looks and as a pen to use.
Condition: excellent; the jade green celluloid bind has darkened; the BHR cap is unfaded and both parts are in very good condition. The ink window has excellent transparency. The gold filled trim shows no brassing and is in beautiful condition. The pen has been restored, fills well and the fine nib writes smoothly with good iridium cover.
