In 2010 the London silversmith Henry Simpole made a limited edition of just 10 pens to raise money for a charity. This pen is number 02/10.
The edition used Onoto vintage pens, restored by Jim Marshall, on which Henry Simpole made overlays in sterling silver.
The Onoto pen is c1910 in black hard rubber, a plunger filler with a broad nib, an expressive writer with lovely flex.
The overlay in the style of the early 1900s is fully hallmarked with Henry’s “HCS” maker’s mark and the edition number.
The pen is quite substantial with good girth and 14.5cm closed and 17.8cm with the cap posted.
Condition: excellent, expertly restored by Jim Marshal, the pen fills and writes very well and the overlay is pristine. The pen was mint when I bought it and has only been used a few times.
