Olympic gold medalist and 2026 Oregon State graduate Jade Carey to give commencement address

Until proven wrong, I'll say Jade will be the youngest commencement speaker in the history of OSU/OSC/OAC ... along with (I assume the only speaker simultaneously graduating from OSU)!

Looking at past speakers, 2000-2025, I think the youngest was Lamar Hurd (former OSU Basketball player) at 38 in 2022! Next youngest probably Steven Jackson (former OSU Football player) at 40 in 2024!

I haven't determined if OSU had any Commencement Speakers before 2000 ... & 2000 to 2003 they were the OSU President or current OSU professors!

In 2004 the speaker was Former US Senator & Astronaut John H. Glenn!

2000 was the 1st year with a split ceremonoes (undergraduate & graduate) ... the last time in Gill Coliseum.

2001 was the first outdoor commencement, in Reser Stadium.
