(It is similar to CollegeGymNews.com's projection ... with one "minor" difference ... I'll discuss at the bottom of this message.)
Traditionally, I'm not great at this, but this year is simpler than most, with no paired-seeded-hosts.
Also, I think I understand some of the basics better than recent years, ...
* The teams that are Hosts compete at home if in Top-36; non-seeded teams that are within 400 miles of a host site will be placed at that Regional (this season those are #18 Ohio State --> Lexington, #33 Arizona --> Tempe, #35 UW --> Corvallis);
* BYU (doesn't compete on Sundays) will be placed at a Wed-Thur-Sat Regional;
* The #1 Seed is paired with #16 (Host Kentucky), which also happens to be the closest Regional (so #1 OU --> Lexington); (#2 Seed is HOST LSU);
* #3 Seed to the next closest Regional (so #3 UF --> Tempe);
* Leaving #4 UCLA assigned to Corvallis; Seeds are grouped as 1-8-9-16/2-7-10-15/3-6-11-14/4-5-12-13;
* Remaining unseeded teams generally placed based on geography (with some consideration for balancing competition??) & they distribute the unseeded teams from "pods" (17-20/21-24/25-28), one in each pod to each Regional ... with of course two of 29-36 to each Regional.
(Note: In at least the last 3 seasons, the top ranked (5th ranked) un-seeded team at a Regional has competed in the Evening Session, along with the winner of the Play-in Meet ... the play-in winner must compete in the evening to get the required ~24hr rest after first meet.)

I think the only difference between my above team placements, and those of CGN, is that they put #28 SUU at Tempe and #26 Utah State at Baton Rouge ... I can see them doing that, but the only reason I can see for doing that is that SUU is a bit closer to Tempe than USU ... but I think pairings of 21/28 & 24/26 is more appropriate then the other way around (24/28 & 21/26) ... and it gives the travel preference to the higher ranked team (#26 Utah State)??
CGN also makes a comment that there is a "chance" that "flip" the seeded teams between Tempe & Corvallis ... which makes very little sense to me ... although Tempe & Corvallis are both 3 hours behind Gainesville, & UCLA is closer to Tempe than Corvallis, I would expect them to place the higher seed (#3 UF) at Tempe which is an easier/shorter trip than to Corvallis!
They also said "... there is more uncertainty than usual this year." ... I think it is the opposite!
Go Beavs!!,
