Oregon State gymnastics: Putting music to the moves
Pretty good article about how OSU Gymnastics chooses floor music and how it is combined with the dance & tumbling of a gymnast’s floor routine.
Here are the last few paragraphs of the article:
... Sophomore Paulina Vargas has moved into the floor rotation this year and performs to "Tres Deseos" by Gloria Estefan.
“I chose my music because I feel that just listening to it makes you want to dance. I love to feel that every time I do my routine and at the same time am able to show everyone that side of me that is super cheerful and energetic,” Vargas said.
Kell said Vargas is a great example of a gymnast who has found a way to really embody the music in her performance.
“She really performs her floor routine and it makes a big difference. I think that the crowd and the judges, it's hard to not smile when you watch her and that leaves an impact on you, especially when you're giving a score," Kell said. "It makes you feel a certain type of way, versus someone who is just kind of going through the motions of their dance to get to the tumbling.”
