Edited by Richard on 6/5/2021, 12:38 pm "... Both floor and vault are possibilities for her, and will be decided after the entire World Cup Series is completed, pending other results, scores, and a tie-break system. ... " "... The catch is if she is on the actual four-person team, she can still qualify for a chance to compete for the individual event medal as well, but has to be in the top eight in the prelims. ... " "... The catch? Carey has until July 5 to tell the FIG whether she will officially accept the nominative spot she is presented with. This, unfortunately, will not be until after the final World Cup event that contributes to Tokyo – which will take place in Doha June 23-26 – the same weekend as the U.S. Olympic Trials. ... " "The catch" is that "unfortunately" Jade will be able to compete for a spot on the Team (announced 6/28)... BEFORE she has to decide whether she will accept the individual spot (on or after 6/29)! That is unfortunate... ;- P ... maybe she meant unfortunate for the Selection Committee?? "... If she has been nominated as one of the four-member team, and chooses not to accept, she may then simply submit her acceptance individually to the FIG on July 5. ... " "Oh no, I don't want to win an Olympic Gold Medal... I'd rather go by myself & try to win a Silver medal!!" ;- P
FORT WORTH FOCUS – JADE CAREY’S JOURNEY
Some pretty poorly researched & written parts to this article... ... wherever you read "The catch" you know it's about to go off the rails...
"... This is precisely why Jade Carey was not on the 2018 team, in order to leave open her eligibility for an individual spot (which she later clinched for floor exercise). ... "
So Jade clinched on Vault, in addition to Floor, which is the spot she would take if not named to the team.
No "possibilities" here ... no "pending", she clinched her spot on Vault.
Well," the catch" is there is no difference whether she is on the team or not, except there would be one less competitor for her in the two per country rule, to make vault or floor finals, if she was on the Team!
Go Beavs!!,
