We got out Sunday for a quick trip to the LEMUEL BURROWS. Vis was about 10 to 15. Some fluke found but not too many. A few small lobsters but no keepers to be had. Thermocline was very strange. I think it may have been up around 20 feet or there just wasn't one... Seemed like cool water from the bottom and all through deco. Was great to get out as I haven't been in the water since we lost the Mary L.
Sadly, we lost her to a fire before she was put into the water last spring. In fact, I didn't even dive last year. My crew and I have sort of been milling about trying to figure out if we want to get on a commercial dive boat or whatever. Morale has been kinda low. It will take me at least one more year to save up for something. I didn't realize how spoiled I've been all these years running my own boat with a great group of close friends to dive with. Still licking my wounds from the loss. Thanks for asking Glenn
I doubt you'll really enjoy a commercial dive boat, once spoiled it's hard to go back. On the other hand "you" at least will realize just how much "less" each dive costs "you" plus now there is more time for "you" to dive. There's something to be said about just walking off the "other" guys boat the end of the day and leaving all the "other" guys problems on his boat. With all the regulations and short seasons you need to take a hard and long look if it is really worth getting another boat. I don't see things getting better in the near or distant future so in the end a commercial dive boat may just be the best option. I have no doubt their business is hurting thanks to regulations which directly affects clientele.
