I am looking for information on wrist mounted dive computers. I am looking to purchase my first computer, and I want to spend around $250 or less. Anyone with an opinion please comment. I would like it to have large easy to read numbers, have a built in light, and be easy to program. I have been checking them out online, but the reviews are all over the place from awful to great on the same computers. Thanks

I have a Suunto Vyper and am very happy with it. It's a little more conservative than some other brands. By that, I mean one diver on the boat might have his computer telling him his bottom time is 45 minutes, and the Vyper might tell me I can do 41 minutes. Of course, it's all dependent on gas mix, depth and personal settings.
I don't know how many computers DON't meet these criteria, but I'd suggest:
1) PC interface (check if the cable is included) 2) User replaceable batteries 3) Nitrox capable (if you're not on nitrox and you're diving up here in NJ, there's a good chance you will be at some time).

What is your intended use? Recreational, light tech, tech etc. I have used a Cressi wrist mounted computer for light tech. Bulletproof, simple to navigate 2 gas which can also be used in gauge mode. I actually have 2 which were my primary and backup which can be had cheap.

I only do recreational diving, mostly inlet or beach dives but some wreck dives 80' at the deepest. What is the name of your computer, and would you recommend?

The model I own is the Archimede II, no longer made. The newer model Leonardo looks about the same but simpler with 1 button operation, I would definitely recommend Cressi computers, good algorithm, simple, economic and the battery is user replceable. http://www.leisurepro.com/p-csblw/cressi-leonardo-wrist-computer I hope the link works, if not just copy and paste.
