We did 3 stops,2 of the captains "secret spots" and Rods & Cables. Water was pea soup on the surface, black from 20 ft - 70 feet. Once you got below that gunk, viz was great - as far as your flashlight beam would throw. |
It was like diving at night, I even saw confused lobster walking around in the open.
Sea bass were out but hunkered in holes. Most bugs had eggs, although a few nice ones were caught. No Tog, but we weren't on sites you'd expect to find them.
I got 63 degree bottom temp.
The 2 ft swells NOAA was forecasting turned out to be more like 4-5 ft. It was a pretty gnarly day and the sun never popped out. Although, the rains showers on the way in at least rinsed my gear for me.
But as they say, a bad day diving beats a good day at work.
