With Saturday's questionable forecast, Capt. Bill decided to play it safe by staying close to the inlet and take advantage of the last day of Sea Bass season and see where the lobsters and fluke were hiding.
CAPTAIN BART (yes, THAT Bart) guided the Tuna Seazure out of her slip and headed towards a wreck a select few know as the "West Point". Surface temps were still in the low 70's, but bottom temps had cooled off to the low 60's. Vis was dark and mediocre at best, but went to near zero when you kicked up the silt.
Unfortunately, nobody saw any fluke but several people talked about the one nice Tog that was hanging around but eluded capture. Today's cooler contents consisted of about a dozen very nice sea bass and 18 lobsters. While the lobster count was down from the previous day, there were some decent size ones brought up, including one weighing in at 6 lbs with a 5 3/16" carapace! (Nice catch Pawel!)
Lastly, I want to discuss a serious crime that was committed against me yesterday. I was lobster-jacked! What does that mean, do you ask? Well, I placed a decent 3-4 lb bug in the cooler along with 2 smaller ones. When I went to retrieve said lobsters at the end of the charter, I was left with 3 smaller ones. Considering I really don't eat them, I would have gladly given you all of them anyways had you asked. Instead, I was left feeling violated, cheated and empty inside.
Ummmm, he who cries first. Captain deserves tribute but I'm not sure this " accident" counts. Maybe the lobster shrunk, there was a smaller one there. Capt. Bill
