Don't count on NOAA finding anything that has not already been discovered by a commercial fisher or researched and funded by a private dive operation. They are waiting to siphon off that information.
After many past searches and continued investigations, the location of the Cayru is most likely in very deep plus feet of water.

Based on the technical review of available information, NOAA proposes the following recommendations for the Cayru. The final determination of what type of action, if any, rests with the U.S. Coast Guard.


Location is unknown; Use surveys of opportunity to attempt to locate this vessel and gather more information on the vessel condition

Be noted in the Area Contingency Plans so that if a mystery spill is reported in the general area, this vessel could be investigated as a source

Conduct outreach efforts with the technical and recreational dive community as well as commercial and recreational fishermen who frequent the area, to gain awareness of changes in the site
