Saturday 10/19 With 5 divers and one who would be doing his first New Jersey dive we headed out for some fun. Even before we got past the jetty we could see the ocean looked very flat. Capt Bill would say the flattest or possibly the second flattest day of the entire year. We were split fairly evenly with diggers and buggers so we would head over to a wreck we haven't been to very much this season. Top side conditions were as good as it gets.......less than one foot seas. Dive one was dark as we got out before the sun was up, had a lot of particulate in the top of the water column but cleared up nicely on the bottom. Maybe 10-15 ft but that was the darkness, dive 2 had a little bit more light and 15-20' was the consensus. Water temp on the bottom was in the lower 60's. The haul was 5-6 Bugs and an item no one was able to identify. The coolest thing of the day was the best whale encounter I have ever seen. Off the stern at maybe 50 foot we had a very large whale come up 3 times before it left. Most thought the fluke was at least 6 foot across and guesses ranged from 40-50 foot for overall length. What an awesome thing to see. Both divers that were underwater said they thought they heard a low whining sound that may have been the whale.......very Very COOL!
As you can see conditions don't get much better than this. Our Whale encounter was so long one of our divers was able to get a good amount of video of the Whale. I hope he will be able to upload it or at least send it on to me so I can post it.
We are also hoping that someone can chime in with what the bone might be?
We currently have a couple divers interested in Thursday and Saturday. We are wide open for Friday and Sunday. Season is coming to an end for the TUNASEAZURE soon. Sea Bass are back next Friday...........if you wanna get out give the shop a call. 10 attachments — Download all attachments View all images 10.19.a.JPG 10.19.a.JPG 1496K View Download 10.19.b.JPG 10.19.b.JPG 1326K View Download 10.19.c.JPG 10.19.c.JPG 1507K View Download 10.19.d.JPG 10.19.d.JPG 1632K View Download 10.19.e.JPG 10.19.e.JPG 1672K View Download 10.19.f.JPG 10.19.f.JPG 1682K View Download 10.19.g.JPG 10.19.g.JPG 1753K View Download 10.19.h.JPG 10.19.h.JPG 1988K View Download 10.19.I.JPG 10.19.I.JPG 2019K View Download 10.19.j.JPG 10.19.j.JPG 2044K View Download
