LadyGodiver report 3/30/2013

Our first trip of the year out of Barnegat Inlet. It was just Stan, Harry and I . We figured we would head offshore a little in search of some vis.
The first stop was a small metal wreck in about 95 ft of water. Very little change from last year. We saw lots of lobster but we were pretty sure they were out of season so they are still there. There were some small blackfish (also out of season) and I managed a nice ling Bottom temp was 39F and vis between 15 to 20 ft.
Next stop was a few miles inshore where the vis was 10 to 15 and same bottom temp. This wreck in 92 ft was pretty sanded in compared to last year. I guess the storm did that. Some lobster but not many at this spot that was great last year.
The seas were very calm all day and it was a great day on the water.
I almost forgot to mention a nice deadeye came up off the second site. I was surprised to see it as the wreck was sanded in and I figured they would all be covered this year. this one was found by seeing the rope holes in at sand level.

Hey if I get a boat with all that stuff can I keep the pee bottle I see hanging in the back of the picture?

Of course.
Do you remember the White Star & capt. Ray? He kept a gallon jug in his wheelhouse and his boat was 95'.

I have to admit I was surprised to see the deadeye as the wreck had sanded in quite a bit. Hopefully this year we will hear of lots more good stuff being found.
Hey you can almost see the For Sale sign in the back window of the boat. If anyone wants a great dive platform with a lot of good Mojo for a great price let me know. I have wanted to buy a bigger boat for a while now but this year I really have the fever. If I find the boat I want I think I will buy it anyway at this point and just have 2 dive boats.

Where have you been this winter. Not that you missed much diving up here. This winter's weather did not let us get out much. It does not appear that the wrecks we visited changed much although one is pretty much sanded over. Now that you have told me what you want in the new boat I will add it to my list. Hope to see you soon.

I guess I better start looking at 50+ ft boats to accommodate all these extras.

Twin diesel, cruise 25kts, compressor, full salon with couch, recliners, full galley, private staterooms, full electronics, with side scan and tow fish magnetometer, crane for lifting the treasure,finally no more than 4 divers!

Now you are talking crazy...... stateroom? Really? We dont need no stinkin staterooms.... you forgot the big screen tv, two heads, real heat and can it be lime and teal? I love lime and teal.... it has such a beachy oceany feel..... and it is easy to get coordinating towels.

It is very important to be coordinated if you are going to dive. Thats why most dive gear is black... easy coordination for all you guys who cant match a shirt and shorts.

Cheryl, what you mention is a "given" and comes as standard equipment on a boat of that class.
As for the private staterooms, yes for a day trip maybe, I was thinking for those weekend adventures, long trips. Like to Howard's "retirement" wreck so he can pay for this boat.

Howard, any chance of a helipad with a small chopper to fly out to the wreck destination to verify it's "open" so no wasted trips to an occupied wreck?

Glenn= retirement wreck= secret wreck. I was going to head out there this weekend but the weather was not cooperative. I ended up doing a river dive with Stan, Bob and Bart. I did come up with $$ from this spot. Vis was not good, only about 2 ft.

WE painted the bottom of the Gypsyblood which is WAY BETTER THAN finding some stupid 200 year old deadeye thing..........(silence..crickets chirping in background) (eyes looking nerviously right and left)

Yeah and we got to use soft scrub too....... it was really cool..........
