Dykes Video

I just uploaded another video to YouTube. This is about our dive on the Dykes also known as the Steel Schooner. It is a 306' long schooner barge last used as a sludge barge for the City of New York. It was sunk in July of 1983 as an artificial reef on the Sea Girt Artificial Reef in New Jersey. It is one of our favorite places to go for blue mussels. The image below is a screen shot capture from the video. I cropped it to show more of the summer flounder.

I'm in the business. Depending upon what software you use for editing, I might be able to recommend a color correction plugin

Adobe Premiere Pro CS6. I had been using PowerDirector 10. It is much easier to use than Premiere but I found that I could do more corrections with Premiere. I used to use it years ago when I made my first attempt at video. I produced a half hour manatee video and realized how much work went into editing. I realized why I liked still photography so much. But now, the GoPro Hero2 has renewed my interest. I am going to be breaking my manatee video down into three parts and uploading it to YouTube in the next few weeks.

Premiere's got some great color correction tools. I like the secondary color correction tool in the 3 way color correction wheel, but that's for spot, not entire frame.

BTW - I bought your book a few months ago and love it. It's sitting on the coffee table and I show it to everyone. Great job.

Thanks, Dave. I will check out the tutorial and thanks for the comments on the book. I am really happy with it.

I traded that grapple years ago with Paul Hepler for a much heavier one that I was using. One of the problems that I have had with the GoPro is the extreme green color in the videos. I am trying to filter some of that out in software. I am going to try a Magic-Filter soon but it might not work so good because it reduces the light by 2 f-stops. I have used it with still cameras but I can up the ISO on them. We shall see. And, bartman, I seem to remember that you are the moon snail guy. So this is for you:

Embrace the 'green'. That's what Jersey is. I don't like it when videos of the Tolten are 'softwared' into a Bermudan wreck.

I don't like Bermudian blue unless I am in Bermuda but green to the point of where anything that should be white has a green tint to it is too much.
