Arundo Trip report on Indy II

Ever the optimist, Capt.Dan scheduled the Arundo for today. With a full boat of passengers and crew we headed out on a chilly morning. Everyone was excited to squeeze in another day of diving as the season comes to a close. We were greeted with 2 foot rollers as we left the inlet. Sue and I splashed to tie in and found ourselves in 56 degree water but a dark 5 to 10 feet of vis. While everyone was hoping for scallops it was not to be. A number of nice size bugs and a few bottles were boated. All in all a nice day on the Atlantic.

Wait a minute. Back up... NO SCALLOPS ??!! You're joking, right ? You looked in the sand and silt, right ? Sort of round things. Shells. NOOOOOOOOO !!!

Don't worry Bob, remember I went for the upgraded and added the scallop detector to the bottom finder. Captain Dan may be an optimist, but I have better toys. I can find you scallops.

No Jim,I am a realist.I just don't listen to NOAA all the time.BTW I was shocked there were no scallops,but talk to a friend who is a scalloper and told me when it blows hard from the North East,the scallops bury them selfs 5 to 8 inches in the sand for protection.It takes a day or two for them to surface.Never knew that.

It not over yet Kim. I think Dan will be running an open boat to the Immaculata this upcoming weekend. The water is still warm you should join us.
