Sunday's Trip to the Rockland County with Scuba Network

Well after yesterday’s trip to the Viscaya and Delaware yesterday morning and then to the Dykes yesterday afternoon, I started to doubt the NOAA forecast for today. So I decided that if I was going to call the dive today, I was going to do it at the dock this morning.
When I got up I went outside to check the wind and it was calm by my house. So I headed to the beach before I went to the dock. When I got to the beach I was surprised to see how calm it was, so we would at the very least poke our nose out.
We were greeted with 3 footers and so off we went to the Rockland County. Bart had us tied in very quick, with the short ride and quick tie in; we waited for our divers to get ready. Within 30 minutes, it was just me and crew on board and I was wondering if we should stay for a second dive and it was a bit rougher at the dive site. But before the divers made it back to the boat the winds died down to what seemed like 10 knots and the seas calmed down nicely. So after the divers got back, we decided there would be a second dive here today.
We had something to eat while we were greeted with sun shine that warmed everything up very nicely.
It was time for the second dive and what little current there was on the first dive, disappeared. Someone reported that they spotted an anchor that was left behind by some poor boater. So Bart was off and running to make a recovery. Unfortunately, it was pretty bent up while they were trying to recover it.
All and all, a great day diving. It goes to show you that you cannot rely on only the NOAA weather forecast, if we had, we would have never made it out today.DSAO,

Bart, so the "silence" of the dive report is in itself a report. Good to know Howie didn't miss anything since we were also out there but because of "issues" didn't get a chance to dive.
Hope you enjoyed cleaning up the puke. LOL Greasy fried eggs and sausage breakfast combined with the smell of diesel exhaust or diesel fuel in the cabin work well together on "nice" days. Oh, somebody smoking a nice thick stogy can cap it off also. I used to look forward to those days as I had my choice of what I wanted for snaks and lunch. For some reason customers were very generous with offering, "help myself to anything in their coolers'. For reasons unknown these same divers weren't as generous on lake Atlantic days. The only thing I can figure is they were just not in a happy go lucky care free mood on those flat calm hot days??
