Ok I think I got the date correct this time. We got out today and had to be back in early so this affected our dive destination choices. First stop was a big low wreck in 65 ft of water North of the inlet. We have not gone North too much this year due to all the boats that seem to cover that area. Anyway we got on the planned wreck but noticed several fishing boats just inshore on another wreck (bad sign). Good conditions with about 25 ft or better vis, lots of big fluke, some lobster, sea bass, ling , etc. Bottom temp comfortable, bottom vis good , surface vis = pea soup. Nice dive and the coolers were filling up. Next stop was a small broken up commercial fisherman in the same area. Same vis , same amount of life and lots more sea food but only two divers went in on this spot. Next I looked for another nearby wreck but could not find it. Very frustrated (starting to loose it) I head to another wreck on the way in and of course a fishing boat is on it. Settled for another wreck of same depth that I am not so happy with, NW barges ( At this point I have lost it). Jump in the water and good conditions but pretty much cleaned off of anything decent. These wrecks seem to get really hammered. Well anyway we went to one of the barges we know pretty well and find some stuff we never saw before. That part saved the day as well as a few more fish coming off this site. Thats surprising since it does get hit just about every weekend and more. A few more fish and lobster came up. End of the day: I think more than a dozen good fluke up to about 8 lbs. 3 or 4 lobster ( not really looking for them so much any more) 3 big tog to just over 12 lbs lots of nice ling sea bass to 4lbs I guess all in all a good day , flat seas , good company, full coolers and the boat runs good. I think other than a couple of specific destinations up North we are going to stay South of Barnegat Inlet where hopefully I can maintain my sanity. I am still looking forward to staying at Shark River this winter but only after most of the other boats are stored away for the winter and we have the area to ourselves and just a few other boaters.
Passed you guys just outside the sticks... I was jealous... We fished the Make a Wish Flounder tourney so no diving for us... Much better day for diving than fluking w/ the lack of drift... Glad to know the bottom vis is still good! We'll be back out next weekend.

First and foremost our captain- Howard "the human vacuum" Rothwieler, if it can be caught or speared Howard will find it and capture it, none better
The Crew:
Francis "Ford Capolla" O'Gorman our cinematographer, he captures all the teams adventures on film for posterity
Jack "bugman" Fullmer- this guys dreams about lobster and does OK catching them, rumor has it Jack is Jacques Cousteau's love child
John "faster then a speeding bullit" Sajdak- can get in the water faster than Clark Kent could change to Superman in a phonebooth, has no other redemming qualities
Harley " the book of knowledge" Sager- this guy is incredible, mention a wreck, any wreck and he can tell where it's located, how deep, how it lies on the bottom, when it sank, what it's made of and if pressed he can show you a detailed map of the damn thing
Hey Capt Howard, sorry that was us who cleaned off the NW Barges right before you got there! We tried to call you on the radio, but couldn't reach you. We were all over today started out around 80ft and worked our way into the 60ft range. 3 wrecks = a dozen lobster, 4 fluke up to 7.5lbs, a few nice tog, a lone cod, and a bunch of decent seabass to add to the mix. Great day on the water!
Hey glad to hear you did well and if anyone was going to clean off a wreck before we got there I am glad it was you. At this point in the season I don't care if I get to the NW barges for the rest of the year. I almost did not even make the last dive but was glad I did after the dive. Sounds like you had a good day. I turned down the radio after some guy got on asking for a fluke report for about 1/2 hour straight and forgot to turn it back up.
