Northeast wreck diving/salvage techniques applied to the 1955 Chevy in this video. John Morgan got the trunk open with his "halligan" two weeks earlier, so we tried to use it to pry open a door of the same car. Reasoning was to be physically able to enter the vehicle, and to be able to blow out all the silt and leaves with a scooter to "see" what actually was inside. All the windows were rolled down, and the front windshield shattered, allowing 54 years years of debris to enter the compartment. A month earlier, a Submerge scooter was used to attempt to blow out some of the debris, but it didn't have a satisfactory result, as there wasn't a big enough exit passage, and just circled round and round inside. In spite of a valiant effort by John, the door didn't pop on the first attempt. There is always next season... Note that this marked the end of the three year organized exploration of the Tilly Foster Mine, on this date. The following years will be a scaled back diving schedule compared to the past three seasons. John Eells and I wish to return to some ocean diving, off of NJ and NY. Miss that salt water!
