On 9-11-2015, Bill Ahrens and I did one dive at the Tilly Foster Mine, primary objective were two things: one was to run a permanent line to the '55 Chevy, and second was to test the new external monitor on the DSLR rig and compare some GoPro footage to the DSLR. All objectives were achieved. On observation, the GoPro 4 does an excellent overall job of capturing video at depth, but it is limited. The Nikon D800 has far more capabilities and much more sensitive chip, but it takes ten times the effort. Since the sensor is so large the DOF is shallow, so focus is always an issue. Next test I will try a a more constricted f-stop of f.8 or f.11. The '55 Chevy is surrounded by other stolen vehicles as well, almost too many to count, we will be discovering these as long as we continue to explore this open pit. All the wrecks seen in this video were between 190'-175' FFW, in 42 degrees. During the summer, however, the water temps rise to 73 degrees at 15', but deeper than 30' it's brutally cold to the bottom.
