We headed out to a small metal snag a few miles out and set the hook. Jack and Harley dropped down and had a good long dive. Both divers came up with nice sized lobster and fish. John decided to sit this one out so I went in last, did my dive and pulled the hook. We ended up with some nice lobster, lots of nice sized sea bass, ling and even a jumbo porgy
Second dive we went to one of Harleys favorites. I had never dove this one, I usually just drop Harley on it. This time when the other divers were done I jumped in . I was surprised by a great low lying wood wreck. Lots of lobster holes and many filled with quality lobster as well as sea bass. We managed to grab a few more quality lobster and shoot a few more fish.
After the second dive the wind started to turn and build a little. There were some whitecaps starting so we figured rather than push out luck we would head in.
Bottom temps were around 50f. Bottom vis was 15 to 20. The surface vis was around 1ft which made the bottom pretty dark . Nice day on and in the water!
I almost forgot to mention last week I got invited on a weekend of scallop diving with Brian, Bart, Jimmy and Frank. We went out on a boat out of Mass. Nice operation up there . We dove between 40 and 90 ft depending on the spot they dropped us. Some spots had lots of scallops and some did not. We all came home with plenty
Nice trip and thanks Brian for the invite.
The trip reminded us that the scalloping around here has been on the poor side for the past few years. Hopefully that will change.
