Water was cloudy for the first 30 feet or so, and a bit dark on the bottom, but viz was a good ten feet on the bottom. Bottom temp was 55.
I had two nice dives, 50 minutes each, which was all that my computer would allow. After a leaky summer, just in time for the fall dive season, I've finally aqua sealed up every hole in the drysuit and I was toasty and warm. It's a good thing Aqua Seal comes in a 24 ounce tube.
Quite a few big lobsters still up in the bow, I don't think anyone caught any. A few sea bass but nothing to get excited about. I also saw quite a few tiny butterfly fish. I guess they missed the return trip on the Gulf Stream.
About 100 feet SE of the boilers, I found a large pipe, I'm guessing a sewer main. About 8 or 10 feet long and 5 ft in diameter. Much too cleanly defined to be the shell of a boiler, and marine growth all around the inside. Anyone know anything about it?
Captain brought us a big cooler with a wet surprise, which made putting on gloves and hoods a pleasure on the second dive. Another great day out on the Gypsy Blood. Thanks Jim!
