As we broke the inlet the wind seemed to be out of the north so we headed into it and made our first stop on the NW barges. Good vis at about 20 ft and warm bottom temps. We dove two or three different barges depending on if you count two that went down together as one or two. Some nice fluke and a few lobster.
Next stop we headed North and hit a very very small snag and got out biggest bug of the day at just over 5lbs. It turned out to be too big so back it went.
A few more miles North and we were hooked into what we think is an old broken up barge in 65 ft . Lots of nice sea bass and fluke came up as well as a few more lobster. The vis here was a little better in the 20 to 25 ft range.
From there I thought I was dropping Jack and John on a pile of broken up machinery but I must have just missed the wreck and instead hit a very very low wood barge. I think more fluke came up.
Lastly on the way in I jumped in on a very small spot that we had not been to before. It turned out to be some unique wreckage that held the biggest fluke of the day at just over 8lbs. It may be a good one to hit at the end of the month when tog season opens as there were some nice ones there.
I would like to do a lot more looking around on these wrecks but I seem to fall back into the hunting mode. Maybe next week.
Finally headed back to the slip and headed home with full coolers once again. I am getting spoiled with the amount of fish and lobster as well as the great conditions. Hopefully it will last a while longer
