Our first stop was to be the Great Issiac or one of the other wrecks close by if it was occupied. Its a miracle but no one was any where near it today. It was nice to dive a big wreck like that and it was sure easier to hook than some of the small pieces we go to. After the others started to come up with reports of not so good vis, I was getting concerned. I jumped in intending to make a dive of it no matter the conditions. It was a pleasant surprise when I hit the bottom and had 10foot + vis. We were hooked on the hull side and it was easy to enter the hull and swim through to the deck. Lots of lobster inside but all eggers. We all ended up grabbing some mussels . The wreck looks to be falling apart at a rapid pace compared to our last trip there in 2010.
As it was a little snotty at the Issiac were intended to head in to the San Saba area for dive 2 but as we started to head in the seas flattened quite a bit. Change of plans and we headed to the nearby inshore tug. 1st drop the hook stuck and then pulled out. 2nd drop in solid. The vis here was a little less at 4 to 7 ft but we were able to locate a couple of keeper lobster. With the low vis we all had no idea where we were diving on the wreck so wreck reels were used. Francis if you are reading this I think your reel is with my gear, I will bring it next week!
Well we are all hoping the vis gets better next week and for the rest of the year and into next year...
