The Queen gave the Cambridge Lover's Knot Tiara as a wedding present to Lady Diana Spencer but Diana followed her family tradition to wear the Spencer family tiara on her wedding day. I am glad Diana chose to follow that tradition to wear the Spencer tiara!
Anyway, back to my point, the Queen did not arrange to present about five tiaras for a new princess-to-be like Princess Diana or the Duchess of York to pick out to wear on her wedding day (only on a loan instead of a gift). The Queen, I believe, bought a tiara for Sarah to wear when she wed Prince Andrew. She also picked a tiara from an old tiara box belonging to the Royal Family to present to Sophie when she wed Prince Edward. Both Sarah and Sophie wore those tiaras, respectively, on their wedding days. The Queen appeared not to present an array of some tiaras for a new princess-to-be (for Diana, Sarah and Sophie) to view and select, like she apparently did for the Duchesses of Cambridge and Sussex. The difference is the fact that the Queen loaned to the last two named women while she gave those tiaras as wedding presents to Diana, Sarah and Sophie. Diana was the only one wearing her own family tiara for the big day.
