Speaking of the lavender purple ribbon on which the initial letter "D" laid, worn by Anne Beckwith-Smith, I would think it's valuable now because of who Diana was and also only at least three people acted as her ladies-in-waiting. Not sure if the others, including Diana's own sister, did have that badge of honor.

I don't suppose these badges have to be returned to the Royal Family on the deaths of any royal, have they? Are they these people's things to keep and pass on to their heirs even after their own deaths?
