In My Garden Today

This week, I'm getting a "taste of fall". Temps are cooler, than they have been all summer. The time is getting close, for me to plant some things I have been putting off, until cooler weather. What about you?
A rare summer bloom appeared on my GOLDFISH PLANT, Nematanthis gregarius...
Earlier in the summer, when I mentioned that my Amorphophallus konjac plants were beginning to sprout foliage, Fred asked if I would post a pic of the plants, when they got taller. Here's a closeup pic of the stem. You can see snakeskin-like markings...
Meet MR. Pye...JOE PYE, that is. He is in full bloom right now. Bees love these blooms. Unlike the dwarf variety, 'Baby Joe', this one is the regular type, that gets over 6 feet tall...
The TUBEROUS BEGONIAS, are beginning to bloom. These bulbs rest in their basket over the winter. In spring, they "give the sign", that they are ready to resume growing. They bloom in mid summer to frost...
Here are a few new STRAWBERRY TREE, Arbutus unedo, starts, I got. For those unfamiliar with the plant, it is an evergreen, sub-tropical shrub, that is native to Mediterranean climates...
Below is a a pic of a SAPODILLA, Manilkara zapota, plant I got. For those unfamiliar with the Sapodilla, it is a tropical fruit tree. The cultivar of this one is 'Silas Woods', which is a dwarf variety, that will fruit in a container...
Thanks, Mark. I wish the mosquitoes stopped biting, in cooler temps, though. I had not sprayed on the mosquito repellent, before going out, in the early evening, tonight. I got 'tore up". Scratching like crazy.
