In My Garden Today

On this warm, humid night, the fireflies are active. They love humidity, as well as liquid water. I have been out watering with the hose, in the evening, in years past, and they would fly right into the water stream, landing on the grass, with their bioluminescent light, pulsating....
This is a pic of a rose tree, with Red Knockout, bud grafted onto a standard trunk, blooming...
This hardy form of ginger, is "giving the sign", that it is ready to grow. This plant usually blooms toward the end of summer. It is Roscoea purpurea f. rubra 'Red Gurkha'...

Alvin, I haven’t seen a lightening bug in this insect desert for some years! It is disturbing! I do like the Albutilons! The Heliotrope is gorgeous, as is the Spiderwort snd Foxglove. Sad one nice as poke varieties.
Lightning bugs or fireflies tend to make their appearance, here, in June. Sorry to hear, that you've seen none, so far. I wonder if the anoles, or some other insect eater, are nabbing them.
