Groundhog Posted by Jason Western PA on February 2, 2025, 8:17 am Morning all! Well PA groundhog didn't come through. I did want to share this cool picture from a group I follow on FB. It is some Amish in Lancaster PA cutting tobacco. I thought it was cool sight to see here in PA.

I did not know tobacco was a Pennsylvania crop. I learn something mew every day. What type of Tobacco is fat. In most of Kentucky they grow Burley, but in western KY they grow dark leaf type for cigar wrappers etc, or they used to. Now days most tobacco is grown in Brazil.

I love visiting there for fresh food and apothecaries. We had an even larger Amish town nearby but they said their water rights had got to minimum and no one would sell them land to expand so they relocated to Canada. The Amish here pick one family to concentrate on one product. I was once friends with the tomato growers family and they would have big ripe tomatoes in the dead of winter. They told me its not easy living the Amish life.

Last year, Michigan Woody predicted 6 more weeks of winter, and the reverse happened. I hope the reverse doesn't happen, this year.
