Ground Zero winter storm - a fizzle Posted by Rob N TN on January 10, 2025, 7:58 pm We were advised of a massive snow storm for North Tennessee for over a week with sleet and freezing rain in South Tennessee. It actually was the reverse and I got 2" of snow. We didn't get the long enduring sub-freezing temps or the 7-9 inches of snow either but Im good with it. Any southern reports?

Mostly icy rain and snow back and forth. 3 inches when it ended but heard Memphis had 7 inches very early this morning. Tupelo had an icy mess . Might be slick tomorrow.

I just wished the media hadn't panicked everyone around here so much. The California wildfires need attention and hope those officials get their due. Can you imagine?

It changed from snow to freezing rain about dark. Temp stayed at 32 all night. It is hard for me to tell how much ice, everything is ice coated but less than a tenth of an inch is my guess. It looks beautiful , what little I can see in the dark with spot light on my truck area. It kinda fizzled here as well. I guess we got lucky.

Tansi got 5 " of snow, Crossville-Jamestown and Sparta got 3". We almost got 3" and I would think many areas just outside of town made it to 3". Im glad it was a bust because the cold just lingers with snow on the ground. The link below is likely why I will see 15*, 13* and 17* for lows this coming week. I hit 41* tomorrow. W.VA always gets clobbered. The Virginia sea-ports and Mark on Maryland's peninsula got some big snow. I'm just dreading the cold nights the snow pack sends down. Stay warm and glad your team isnt dealing with power outages.

We were around 29*-31* during the storm and a lot was melted by Partly Cloudy skies plus daytime snow isnt so common, it likes the cold of the night. I'm dreading the snow pack chill headed southbound this week. I hope this is the last of it. Its been nerve racking with the hyped up news reports because as you well know, getting around on ice and snow and more ice is very difficult in this region and people do get concerned.
