In My Garden Today
Posted by Alvin in Motown, z6 on December 6, 2024, 9:43 pm
After a January-like week, temps are expected to moderate over the weekend, and into next week. Hopefully, I can put the final touches on the plants that still need winter protection, within the next week.
here is the last pic of these two, outdoors, for the season. I'm referring to 'October Magic Ruby', and 'Fudingzhu'....
Here is a Naked Lady, donning her winter clothes. She will stay clothed until late spring. She is evergreen all winter, just like Madonna is. Anybody know the type plants that the Naked Lady, and Madonna, are?
Here is a late fall pic of Wheeler's BUTCHER'S BROOM, with berries. Looks kinda festive, lol. Leaves on this plant are spiny, like some hollies, too...
Here is a new JAMAICAN CHERRY, Muntingia calabura, plant, another plant that is sometimes also called, strawberry tree, I got. This is a tropical fruit plant that will flower, and fruit in a small space...

Alvin, it has been a nice sunny 66° here today , low this morning was 35. Like you we have had some cold weather . It’s supposed to rain three days this week, but the weather will be warmer but rainy. I don’t care for that much , but we do need it. Those naked ladies are very pretty. I don’t grow them, but I like them. The silver dollar plant we always call money plant. I grew it in Kentucky.. I agree with you. The witches broom is very festive looking for this time of year with its red fruit and nice green leaves. . That is a pretty Camillia color bloom you show the Tea olive is always v nice to perfume the garden air.
Thanks, Fred. Mild weather has returned here, literally, for a minute. Bitter cold is set to return later in the week, before another mild spell, for early next week. Yep, both naked ladies and Madonna are types of lilies. The Tea Olive is now perfuming the house. Fudingzhu flowers nearly year round.
