Bradford Pear blooming Posted by Rob N TN on October 29, 2024, 11:15 am Say what ? I was in a hardware store yesterday getting some potting mix and the clerk told me someone told her earlier they had seen some small Bradford Pear trees blooming in a fence line along their property. It is quite warm here for this time of year but I know it is everywhere. No rain here since Hurricane Helene but late Halloween night we get rain and the fall foliage is now peaking here. It's just beautiful and that is right on time.. I'm sure the weather will change to more normal conditions soon but time to enjoy this weather.

They bloom in the fall and that’s about it. They’re really supposed to be spring blooming I thought but here they’ve just blooming the fall and that’s about it. Just a few few blooms in the spring that didn’t come out in the fall.. I kinda like seeing Blooming in the fall. Rescue

cold spell Posted by Rob N TN on October 29, 2024, 12:20 pm, in reply to "Re: Bradford Pear blooming" Hi Fred, my area had a cold spell in the mid to upper 30*s a week or so ago and I'm sure that's what tricked them. I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary here. Roses, Angel trumpets, vinca, pampas,verbena, butterfly bushes, jews and straw flowers still going on. We have a January thaw here ( just a few days of mild weather after winter begins and I have seen Tennessee Iris bloom in January. Talk about short lived . . . .

Their blooms follow the sun from morning to evening in the landscape and soak up so much carbon dioxide and give off so much oxygen, some people have them growing near outdoor chaise lounges. They are about the best in long lasting cut flowers too. Keep dead heading them

You've had rain in the past couple of months, we have had one event in 2 months but it was TS Helene and I did get 7". Rain finally approaching soon and a wet Halloween for sure. Poor kids. Hope you keep those warm temps going on. 74* today but the rain will cool us down

We are now back in drought but picked up 1.95" the other day with more on the way....much more. HeLL lean was not very kind to the southeast- heartbreaking devastation.
