Post office Posted by Jason Western PA on October 20, 2024, 7:34 pm Post office is all cleaned up for the year. Check this thing out, it's huge. Look at Jens crape myrtle. It's taller than me. Rob, there are 3 sabal minors growing in there also. They survived last winter. Also, a N.C. cactus. Forgot a picture. I had two cars stop and people walk up and say I want to talk to you. haha One has a banana and the other lady had to tell me about her EE ears. She said, we come down and take pictures. It sure is nice to see people love them. Sad news, the postmaster is retiring at the end of the month. She has been really great to work with. I am so happy I get to keep this all up. The community really loves it. The one car today was driving by and whipped it in like OMG he's here. lol I offered her a pink EE this spring. She was all excited. She lives beside a lady who I gave a banana to. She said where she lives, and I was like, I gave Janie a banana. The look was like SHE NEVER TOLD ME! haha

Amazing! Love that magnolia too. Kevin is growing some pink pampas grass and it looks like its straight out of a catalogue. We should try some of that, if it will live in our climate. Its going to be in the 70*s (me) and 80*s for AJ and Kevin this week so starting Tuesday I'm going to start stringing lights and get some protection out of storage. I have a feeling it will be needed. I hit 34* and 36* last week but its gone now but it will be back. Sorry to see your postmaster retire, she was awesome and if the new PM doesn't want the whole village mad at him, he better let you keep the landscapes Im sure he will. You have some big palms to look after soon, thanks for sharing and hope things are good. Glad to hear those seedlings survived. I need to get some up to Lloyd this week. Thanks

A little excitement to the little town of Parker, lol. Bananas did well this year said you have to cut them down. Mine look awful. They’re all mostly shredded because of the hurricane and those close to 70 mile an hour winds we had here.. most everyone has electricity back on here now and also mostly have Internet. We switched our Internet because spectrum stayed off for 12 days I think and we went to Verizon.

It's possible Posted by Rob N TN on October 22, 2024, 8:45 pm, in reply to "Re: Post office" good one AJ AJ, you know my climate (about the same as Jasons) I grew Orinoco banana for many years and in some years I had bananas to eat. Of course a long growing season and a warm October was necessary. I also had to dig them up before Thanksgiving and hope for an early spring to get them back in the ground. My brother has a downtown home with a walled courtyard facing west and he had Musa orinico to return for 3 years once but they died out. I haven't seen you try banana but if you do, I hope you would try Orinico or El Saba. They dont spread like Basjoo and the fruit is good. I stopped growing El Saba, one of the tallest species and hard to get to the garage or basement
