In My Garden Today

Well, the time of year has arrived, for there to be mention of things like "light frost or patchy light frost", in my area, next week. No freezes, though, yet...
The Perilla has completed its seasonal life cycle. The drying flower heads will produce seeds for next year's plants. In spring, I posted a pic of some Perilla seedlings that had just sprouted...
Recently, I posted a pic of some pink, single-flowered CUPID'S BOW, Achimenes spp., that was blooming. Below is a pic of a double red-flowered Cupid's Bow. This cultivar is 'Rio Rita', and came from Glasshouse Works, several years ago..
Here is a pic of a half-dozen FREESIA corms I dug, for winter storage. For those who may not know, Freesias have fragrant flowers, that bloom in early to late spring...
Here are some plants I got, that I plan to set out, this fall. In the pic, are a few plants I got from Secret Garden Growers Nursery. In the pic are: A variegated Azara microphylla, an Astrantia major 'Sparkling Stars', and a hardy Impatiens 'Sichuan Gold'...
In the pic below, are some plants I got from Quackin'Grass Nursery, in their final year, in business. In the pic below are: a Phygelius capensis, a Campylotropis macrocarpa, and a Cardiandra alternifolia...
Below are a few plants I got from Dancin'Oaks Nursery. Pictured below, is: a Catkin Bush, Stachyurus praecox var. matzusakii, and a Grevillea victoriae 'Murray Valley Queen'...

Alvin, the Double Red Cupid’s Bow is very nice! Looks like you are preparing for winter with the digging of Fressia bulbs. It is gonna be cold next Thursday morning, maybe. 37 ! This frosty morning is about 2 to 3 weeks early. Maybe yard mowing will be over, yay! I still can not mow, so it gets expensive to pay for mowing each week! You have bought a lot of interesting plants . I hope your winter is milder than normal,
Thanks, Fred. Actually, the sqIuirrels forced me to dig. The Freesia foliage had already died back.i had planned on storing the bulbs, already planted, in their pot. However, when I spotted a hole in the center of the pot, I decided to dig them up. I think the squirrel got away with one of the bulbs. There were 6 bulbs. I dug only 5. There are tiny bullets attached to each momma bulb.
I think mowing will continue a little longer. I usually get a flew light frosts, before a major killing frost occurs (a low of 28 or below). I anticipate that happening, maybe 3 weeks, from now. Hopefully, the upcoming winter, is like the last one.
