This California-native is commonly dubbed Christmas Berry, or California Holly. In fact, the L.A. suburb, Hollywood, was given its name, from this plant. This is another broad-leaved evergreen... https://photos.app.goo.gl/xoy52S22q3E45H6W8 Here's a pic of of a new tropical fruit tree I got. It is related to West Indian Guinep, and Asian Lychees. This fruit tree is called the LONGAN, Dimocarpus longan. It is a grafted plant, which contributes to its early-bearing. There are a few developing fruit on it, already. Amazing that it would be hardy do far north. I like the color on that blue beard as well. The Arbutus is a nice addition. I do not grow tropical fruit.

The Toyon, although relatively hardy, both it and the Strawberry Tree, are a bit of challenge here, in summer, due to humidity (foliar and root diseases are often issues). They prefer climates with drier air, and soil in the warmth of summer, like that on the West Coast. Still I try, lol. I plan to spray them both with fungicide, in rainier periods, and use a granular fungicide in their root areas. I hope it works.
