Helene pics Posted by Fred SC on October 4, 2024, 7:32 pm We still do not have internet from this storm. Pictures really Dont show the extent of damage. . Much has been cleaned up already and many trees cut off houses already. I know it’s one house up the street just when I was taking these pictures, but it didn’t come out. A tree had gone actually down and dug into the house about 2 feet cut like it was trying to cut the house in half, anyway the people are not living in it right now, they’ve had to move out. Things are not back to normal. You just can't get that panoramic view. I can see that it's a mess. Wow Fred, I bet you're happy you got those trees removed recently! There's a good chance it would have been worse for you too.

No deaths in Simpsonville or Five Forks Zi know of, but 29 in SC the last count I heard a day or to ago. A neighbor is supposed to come today snd help clean up and hall off all the limbs and debris in my backyard that looks like a bomb hit it. I hope I can hold out to do iit. I get very tired still after doing much.

It ‘s still dangerous to drive. Most roads cleared, but some to one lane in spots. Yesterday I went to Wal mart and the road was semi locked in several places. It was. Locked in a curve sand I got caught in left lane and almost hit hit head on. The guy had to back up. Piles of trees are stacked out into road in many places. Some people are back to speeding on these roads already!

The govt has brought in barracks for them to sleep with food, shower , sleeping trailers staged at the mall. It is a massive effort. It will be a long time effort in both Carolinas.

I remember two years ago when we had this very localized storm come through our immediate area. The rain whipping past the corner of the house looked like what you might see in a car wash. When I went out afterwards to look around, I saw 4 or 5 trees down and another limb laying on the electric wire that runs through the property. It was smoking. I called the power company. I think I was slightly in shock. I can only imagine how people feel when a tornado comes through an area. Plus, you're stuck with the expense of removing the trees. Ouch!
