Power still out. We are ok. Posted by Fred SC on October 2, 2024, 12:55 pm Duke says power on maybe Sunday late night! Trees on homes cars etc. worst damage here ever. Still thousands without electric. Could brr we binder water , do we are blessed. I paid almost 9,00 dollars last year to take out trees or I would have had trees on house. Still no internet. I took a cold shower this morning. It f wet lt good I. This hot house! I have been sleeping on screened porch, house too hot inside. ‘This too shall b pass.’

Hopefully the power will be back on soon. At least you have water. My niece lives close to you and she got her electricity restored late Monday night.

I am not complaining, we could be in western NC or upper East TN! Thanks for thinking of of us, Rob . Just sooo hot and humid! Kinda hard to breathe and especially at night. Tonight will be the 7th night with no electric or anything. The lights are on in five forks near me. . We went today for a hot meal and went to station and got gas. Gas has been scarce. Ice is still non existent almost. Our neighbor’s family came up from Mrytle Beach and brought us two bags of ice last evening, angels! They say more damage etc this storm in history of upstate with any past hurricanes.

This storm was unusual, in that it remained strong, so far inland, beyond just heavy rains. The low simply stalled out, in the Upper South, spinning for days. The loss of life, and damage, in the billions of dollars. Hopefully, power will be restored sooner, rather than later. People have become used to electricity, that without it, there is little to do, but but go to bed, perhaps, earlier than usual. Do area gas stations and stores have power, yet? Hopefully, hospitals have back up generators, to help prevent loss of life.

Friends in E TN and W NC said ATM's are out, gas is 2 to 3 hour lines if you can find any. Many stores are closed, no electricity (cash only) no water, no sewer, trees down and most highways closed but hopefully electricity will be up soon. People have been kind to tide others over until the FEDS start helping. This reminds me of the ice storms we have had here in years past. Trees down, no travel whatsoever, no stores open, no electricity. Our longest stretch was 2 weeks but had a bad one almost 10 years ago. Fred, if you all can go out of town for a few days, it would be money well spent. Be safe and hope to hear from you soon but I know you have so much on your mind now.

We are lucky to get ours on early. 6 sweltering nights is enough, humid and smothering, glad it is over. Now I will try snd clean up back yard. It looks like a bomb exploded, lol. I hope to be able to clean up a little at a time. We are blessed as compared to some neighbors and nothing like people just to our north in the blue ridge,

Be safe cleaning up and watch out for wildlife, if your coming to Tennessee before April or May, you will have to go to Atlanta and come up or somehow get on I-77 to Virginia and come down I-81 and enter through Bristol Tn/Va. What a mess
