More seasonal temps are expected next week, as well as the possibility for some much needed rain. I have a number of plants to go in the ground, that I was waiting for cooler fall daytime temps, to return, before setting them out....
The FALSE SUNFLOWER/OX EYE, Helianthus helianthoides, is now blooming...
The CUPID'S BOW FLOWER, Achimenes longiflora, a great fall bloomer, is now flowering. I usually dry the pot off, in my basement, each fall, and forget about them, until they "give the sign", in spring. They return every year, with this simple trick:
AHH, It's time for this classic fall flower, to show its stuff. For those unfamiliar with this wildflower, it is called, GOLDENROD or Solidago canadensis. Needless to say, bees and butterflies adore these flowers...
CLIVIA seedheads are forming. I have never tried propagating Clivia plants from seed, but have heard, it is possible. I usually remove them, as deadheading the plant...
Here's a pic of my 3 gallon BUTIA, I got, this past spring, from Steven in Alabama, as a 3 gallon. I immediately bumped it up to a 5 gallon. Believe it or not, roots had already penetrated a drainage hole. I had to yank on the pot, to root prune it, or to sever the root. I hope to set it out, in the spring. The plant has grown taller, too...

Alvin , your golden rod is nice. Golden rod is state flower of Ky and is on Commonwealth flag. … love Cupid’s Bow! The Yelloe if false sunflower is nice deep yellow.
