I absolutely love the Norfolk Island Pine. If I lived in Southern Florida, I definitely would have an Orchid Tree and a Norfolk Island Pine. The globe flower yellow is very intense. I like that too. I’m tired. I’m talking to this. That Hibiscus is really pretty such a deep deep color of red. I’m typing this morning out on my back screened in porch , rather cool this morning , just 61. I guess Autumn Is upon us

However, mine seems to bloom well in dappled shade. Tony Cerbone of Dallas, used to grow a type of Bauhinia (B. forficata), in the ground, as a die-back perennial. Would be interesting if he still grows this plant, after the bitter cold winters, they had a few years back. I agree, that 'Blackberry Merlot' has as rich a burgundy color, as the wine it got its name from. Huge blooms, on a relatively low-growing plant. Hardy herbaceous Hibiscus are such late plants to begin growing, I forgot it was in the spot its in, until it began re-growing, seemingly in late May-early June. Had a cool low of 44, this morning, after a balmy high, yesterday, of just 62. Temp in the house dipped below 70, for the first time, in months. Thankfully, warmer weather returns, as the week progresses. Just a little over a month and a half left, in my outdoor growing season, here.

The runner is going to seed, so I hope to get some young seedlings, next year, from fallen seed. Bamboo are said to live 100 yrs from seed. However, transplants will live only as long as the original mother plant, from which the root divisions were made. This is why my re-seeding (now dying) black bamboo only lived for about 20 yrs, in my yard. It probably came from a plant, already 80 yrs old, at the time the division was made.
