I'm thinking 10 years, maybe. I have not even seen it locally, in the past few years. Funny, but the selection of "annual" offerings, varies every year. Although it gets a hair cut, every year, I haven't repotted it, in a number of years. Probably needs some fresh soil, though. I have been giving it an annual sprinkling of Osmocote. I imagine little natural soil nutrients remain. The loquat hasn't set flower buds yet, after about 4 years. Not enough sun, I'm guessing.

You're right about perennials being cheaper, over time, than having to buy annuals every year. I used to plant alot more annuals, in the ground every year. Gradually, perennials have filled up alot more of my yard, than annuals. Most of my annuals are now just in containers. The Cutleaf Rudbeckia does resemble a double Coreopsis flower, ONLY LARGER, though. These Rudbeckia blooms are a good 3-4 inches across. I have 5 Rose of Sharons. Each of a different color. Two have begun blooming so far. The others are getting real close. The tropical Hibiscus complements the hardy ones.

I have two small ones I put in the new perennial bed by the greenhouse. The rose of sharon are all in full swing here. I wish they lasted longer. Do you get them coming up in the flower beds? Mine reseed all over the place.

If you aren't careful, you can wind up with a thicket. Fortunately, though, seeds tend to drop in area of the momma plant, and not eaten by birds (at least, to my knowing), and dropped elsewhere in their poop. .Whenever I mow, I always pull up some seedlings, to keep the numbers down, and to prevent any from reaching bloom age, and adding to the spread. In addition, they hybridized readily, if you have more than one color planted, creating more color variations. Although I have multiple colors, I prefer to keep only the named varieties, I started out with.
