Earlier in the summer, I posted a pic of some Confederate Rose seedlings that had just germinated. Confederate Rose or Hibiscus mutabilis 'Plena', is a type of Hibiscus that is native to Asia. This variety produces both double and single-flowers, as they don't come true to cultivar from seed. However, they all change color, during the course of a day. Well, the seedlings developed at least two true leaves, and were ready for individual cups. If all goes well, they should be a decent size, next spring:

The summer-blooming CYCLAMEN or Cyclamen purpurascens, is still blooming its head off. Notice, unlike the fall-blooming Cyclamen, leaves are present, while blooming. The fall-blooming type, or Cyclamen hederifolium, will begin blooming soon...

For anyone unfamiliar with the Winter Elephant Ear, or Arum italicum, they produce colorful berries, in late summer-early fall. Leaves appear in fall and last all winter (even here, while buried under snow):

The Wild Thistle, or Cirsium vulgare, is blooming. These plants grow to over 6ft tall, and the leaves are spiny. Fred once said that the flower buds on these are edible, like artichokes (another type of thistle)...

The HARDY BUSH PEA, or Lespedeza bicolor 'Yakushima' , a dwarf cultivar, is juuust beginning to flower. This plant produces the tiniest purple flowers, in late summer-early fall. Like edible beans and peas, this plan is a pod-bearer, like Mimosa and honey locust trees...
