Although I have been growing temperate fruit trees (I wish, in hindsight, that I had planted them all as dwarfs, as opposed to standard size, because the fruits are too high to harvest, the trees too big to throw a net over, and as a result, critters get to enjoy the delicious fruits more than me), for years, most of my tropical fruit trees were acquired over the last year, or two, and are too young to fruit. I purchased them as small seedlings, to save on costs, as well as my limited space to house them, during the winter months. On the other hand, my grafted, air-layered, or cutting (own root) grown tropical fruit trees are much nearer to flowering and fruiting age. The ones fruiting now, or nearing fruiting age, include oranges, mandarines, kumquats, grapefruit, limes, and lemons. My black and white sapotes are also beginning to set fruit.
I have always loved growing my own fruits and veggies, to supplement my food supply. There is a difference between the flavor of home grown fruit and veggies, as opposed to most grocery store produce. There is also a rush I get from eating things grown in my own yard, or in eating honey made from "local wildflowers", as opposed to that from other states, or even foreign countries, found on grocery store shelves.
Most hardy citrus have an "off taste", compared to the citrus flavors I like. I don't grow any of them, as a result.
