I looked up Ocean City, Md USDA zone, and believe it or not, they may feel that only minimal protection is needed on their palms, there. You could give them some pointers, regarding palm protection, LOL. They probably expect their plants to look like this, after winter, because they haven't seen any come through, looking better (like your's).
Although cheaper, plastic only, is not a good form of palm protection. People have reported that it can overheat on warmer days. In addition, plastic traps in moisture, allowing mold and fungal diseases to flourish. If those palms survive, they could've kept a full head, rather than lose most of their leaves, like a deciduous tree.
That "two in one" pine pot is interesting. Whoever buys that one should expect some needle loss, after separating the two trees, before transplanting them to the ground, or to separate pots.
Although z8a, their plants came through winter looking worse, or about the same, as plants grown in colder zones, like z5 or 6, especially, if protected...better.
