Also discovered some unexpected tenderness in the Oak Leaf Holly. It received foliar damage from my normal z6A, -10F winter, even though it was protected with a styrofoam rose cone. It is not dead, but I would not rate this plant, as z6 hardy. It would likely need protection, here, in a normal low temp winter:

Here is a pic of the PDN variegated Yucca gloriosa plant, I got last year. I protected it with a translucent cloche, to keep winter precip off its leaves. Even though it is rated z7 hardy, it took -10F, quite well, I think:

Fred, the Carolina Jessamine 'Margarita', did indeed, survive my -10F winter, buried in snow.
