You might need to get some organic soil (bagged or delivered from a landscaping company)., along with some compost (bagged or even, homemade), to fill the raised beds with. Both usually test neutral (+ or - 7) or nearly so, in terms of pH.
Incidentally, I just received several new plants from Gurneys, and Woodlanders Nursery. From Gurneys, I received dormant, dwarf Lucy Rose (red fleshed) apple, and a Nadia cherry -plum. I was surprised to get my trees so early, from Gurneys, since they are based in a neighboring Midwestern state, of Indiana. One reason why I was surprised, is because all the snow I had on the ground, literally days ago, had just melted. I didn't know if the ground was still frozen or not. Lo and behold, the ground had thawed, and I was able to plant the cherry-plum, in the ground. Since the roos are smler on Lucy Rose, and because I haven't decided on a ace for it, in the ground yet, I potted it up, to set out later. Both of these trees are hardy down to z4 minimum temps, and are dormant, so I'm not worried that they will be killed by any temps I'll get, between now, and when time for them to leaf out (April, here), as both are outdoors.
From Woodlanders, I got several su tropicals, that I will keep indoors, until April (a Cyrilla, a Gordonia, and a Clinopodoium.
